Timeline

November 12, 2012 - Began application process by creating an account on the Peace Corps' website.

December 18, 2012 - Finished my essays for my application.

January 1, 2013 - Submitted my Peace Corps application and medical health history form.

January 8, 2013 - Received my third of three recommendations and submitted them to add to my application.

January 12, 2013 - Heard from a Peace Corps recruiter to set up an interview date.

January 24, 2013 - Had my interview at Peace Corps' headquarters in Washington, DC! I was nominated at the end of my interview and received my official nomination email later that day. My nomination was for an education sector placement in Latin America leaving in September 2013.

February 1, 2013 - Received my legal packet in the mail and went to get my fingerprints taken for the FBI security clearance check as soon as possible.

February 11, 2013 - Was legally cleared.

May 15, 2013 - Reached out to education sector to inquire about my departure and invitation. I heard back that I should receive more information by the end of June 2013.

July 1, 2013 - Reached out again because I still hadn't heard anything. I received a response saying that I was now being considered for a placement leaving in January 2014. I was told that I would receive my invitation by September 2013.

August 7, 2013 - Received an email from a placement specialist asking me to answer questions about my ability to teach English and volunteer history. The email stated that I was being considered for a departure between January and June 2014. I submitted this information the following day.

August 13, 2013 - Received my invitation!

August 28, 2013 - Submitted all medical and final application documents after four visits to the doctor's office, two to the dentist, and one stop for vaccinations at Walgreens.

September 19, 2013 - Final medical clearance received.

January 13, 2013 - Staging begins for the greatest adventure of my life!

In total, 377 days elapsed between January 1, 2013, and January 13, 2014. This is a pretty standard duration for Peace Corps application timelines. Don't delay in submitting your application!
